Aquatics InformationThe North Toronto Christian School swimming pool is used for a wide variety of purposes, both directly and indirectly involved with school life.
FacilitiesNTCS owns and maintains a 25-metre indoor swimming pool. A variety of equipment is provided for use in the pool, including flutterboards, lifejackets, and diving blocks. Changerooms and showers are also available for swimmers.
ProgramThe NTCS pool is used for lessons and recreation by the students and the community. Group and private swimming lessons are offered for those interested in acquiring or improving their swimming ability, and levels 1 - 12 of Red Cross Swim Kids are taught by certified high school swimming instructors on weekday evenings and weekends. Advanced swimming courses, such as Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross, Standard First Aid (SFA), Assisted Water Safety Instructor (AWSI), Water Safety Instructor (WSI), and National Life Saving (NLS), are available for swimmers wishing to become qualified as instructors or lifeguards.
The NTCS pool is also used widely by its students during the school day. Elementary school students occasionally go swimming with their class, and every high school physical education course includes a unit focused on swimming skills. Students in swim team practice before and after school, and NTCS hosts competitive swim meets with other high schools from time to time. Additionally, swim schools such as J-Dolphins and H2O-FIT use the pool regularly.
